Chicken/Turkey Taco Seasoning
Updated: Dec 14, 2020
It doesn't get much more standard than buying taco seasoning prepackaged from the store. Grab a package or two on your way down the aisle and don't even think about it, right? But have you looked at the ingredients? MSG, fillers, and preservatives. Not the best option when making taco seasoning from home is so easy.
I make this seasoning on a regular basis. It is so simple and made from ingredients I already had in my cabinet. I've made it so often that I can do it without having to reference a recipe. If you use a 1/2 teaspoon it is a simple as 4-3-3-2-2-1 method, see below. Give it a try, you won't regret it!
(Note, this is best on chicken and turkey, either ground or shredded. I have tried it on beef and it doesn't carry the same kick due to the natural difference in the taste of beef to poultry. I'm working on beef, but I don't eat it nearly as often)

Poultry Taco Seasoning:
2 tsp Chili Powder
1 1/2 tsp Ground Cumin
1 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Garlic Salt
1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
Brown your ground turkey or shred your cooked chicken, about a pound. Add one cup of water and the taco seasoning mix. Stir until well mixed and simmer until the water boils away. Serve as tacos, burritos, nachos or taco bowls!
Hope you enjoy!
